Happy April!

On January 1st, I shared 7 things I planned to work on during the first three months of 2026. I did pretty well! My misses: I didn’t throw a vase (turns out I need a lot of practice to throw tall) and I only sewed two of the three garments I had planned.

For the next three months, I have a list of six things. As you’ll see, it’s quite a wide-range of projects.

As mentioned, this is a carry-over goal from last month. I threw a lot of pottery this winter but struggled to get anything I felt was tall enough to be a vase. The photo above is the closest and I am hoping to play more these next three months and improve my skills. (I would love to make something 4 inches taller with straighter sides than that pot in my photo.)

Thanks to an unseasonably warm March (and the fact that I started my seeds so early) my garden is fully installed. In the next six weeks or so, my spring flowers (anemones and ranunculus) will die back and then I will dig up the corms and transfer the whole bed over to sunflowers. Just like last spring, I plan to split the corms and hopefully have even more to plant for next season. So many flowers! What a gift.

My big “spring cleaning” goal this year is to deep clean the art house. It always needs a good dusting after the seedlings are out but in April I plan to really scrub and rearrange things for how I currently work out there. One of my big tasks is to refinish the butcher block countertops that have taken a beating over the past four years.
