Last month someone asked in the subscriber Q&A if I would be interested in sharing some of the things I have thrifted recently. YES, OF COURSE. I love to see what other people find (it’s one of the few things I miss seeing on Instagram!) and am happy to do a show-and-tell.
As many of you know, I enjoy shopping for old cool stuff. I consider it my hobby and like all of my hobbies, I go through phases where I am really obsessed and other phases when I don’t think about it at all. This year was a bit slower for me. I didn’t go to many estate sales or my local antique malls and consignment shops too often. I spent some time on Facebook Marketplace but not nearly as much as past years. I did shop on Poshmark some and I popped into our local Goodwill about every other month.
Whenever I am browsing (online or in real life) I am always looking for the same ten things —
taper candles & candle holders
glass or ceramic vases
woven baskets
original art
small tabletop frames
unique Christmas decor — particularly birds, houses and trees
brass sanctuary bells
brass leaf dishes
stone busts of women
unique bowls I can use as catch-alls
And then this year, in addition to the above, I was actively searching for plates for my plate wall, a runner rug for our kitchen, a rug for the upstairs landing and a desk. I found two of the four as you’ll see below.
My number one rule before I buy something is I have to know exactly where it’s going. It has to have a place in the house or it cannot come home.
So with all that in mind, let’s take a look at some of my 2025 treasures.
